Top 5 Movies at the Box Office/ Review: National Treasure

by

Top 5 movies at the box office this past weekend:

1. National Treasure: Book of Secrets
2. I Am Legend
3. Alvin and the Chipmunks
4. Charlie Wilson’s War
5. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I know it’s been a while but with Christmas and some internet issues, it was a little crazy. I haven’t been to the movies in weeks! I really wanted to go see National Treasure: Book of Secrets this weekend but it didn’t work out. So, instead I re-watched the first one as originally planned so here’s my mini review of that movie.

National Treasure Movie PosterBenjamin Franklin Gates (Nicholas Cage) grew up hearing the story of a hidden treasure that his family has been searching for for generations. If it truly exists, the treasure would be the greatest in all of history. Ben refuses to give up the search, and follows the clue his grandfather gave him along with the clues our Founding Fathers set in place; including on our money and engraved throughout our history. When he discovers the next clue is on the back of the Declaration of Independence, he has to steal it in order to find the treasure and save the document from being destroyed by other treasure hunters.

I know this movie got mixed reviews but I really liked it…. surprisingly because I can’t stand Nicholas Cage. Ever since I saw Wicker Man I can’t even watch him anymore he disgusts me so much. But, even though he was in it, it was still an entertaining movie. I really liked all the history references throughout the movie (and yes, I realize it’s not all completely accurate and definitely not possible but some people seem to forget that it’s a movie…which should imply it’s not real). And I loved Riley in the movie; he was hilarious. Who doesn’t love a good family fun action adventure? It’s good fun for the whole family.

My Rating:
4-stars
Really Liked it
